THE DAM PLAY
the Story of Nidderdale’s Reservoirs and the People Who Built Them
Words & Music by Nevin Ward
Directed by Christine & Nevin Ward
2-7 and 11-15 July 2007
Specially commissioned to celebrate the Society’s 70th Anniversary, The Dam Play told the story of the building of Nidderdale's reservoirs. It was a phenomenally successful production, prompting an unprecedented level of favourable feedback. Based on extensive research and 'actuality' collected from former reservoir workers, the play was enhanced by specially composed songs and music, an on-stage brass band, and a large screen depicting contemporary photographs from the age of the dam builders, it resonated with everyone who saw it.
Such has been the demand that we plan to present the play again in 2009 – click the following link for further details: The Return of The Dam Play
